- The Savannah Black Heritage Festival returns in person today after a three-year hiatus and will run until Feb. 28. The 34th hosting of the annual event is free to the public and focuses on the theme, "The Festival Lives So Our Legacy Thrives." The festival is a celebration and educational experience that highlights Black culture, performing and visual arts, and history. (Savannah CEO)
- In the first of two open house meetings, residents of Yamacraw Village are concerned about the historic preservation of their neighborhood. The Department of Housing and Urban Development rejected Savannah's Housing Authority request to teardown and redevelop Yamacraw due to a lack of feedback from the public. While input was originally only going to come via surveys, residents at the open house expressed they want the opportunity to vocalize their thoughts. The evaluation of the neighborhood's historic and cultural preservation is still ongoing. (WSAV-TV)
- The 10th annual online, pre-order Sweetheart Sale host by Savannah Technical College’s Savannah Culinary Institute is open for pre-orders through Feb. 5. This year, the sale includes new items, such as fresh marshmallows, hot chocolate bomb trios, and raspberry overload cookies, as well as traditional favorites like gluten-free coconut macaroons and handmade artisan chocolate truffles in a heart-shaped box. All proceeds from the event will support the Savannah Technical College’s Junior Chefs Fund. Orders can be placed here. (Savannah CEO)
