  1. A raccoon in Vernon Windsor Forest has tested positive for rabies after attacking two south Savannah dogs. The Chatham County Animal Services says no humans were exposed to the raccoon and both injured dogs were up to date on their babies vaccines. Raccoons, foxes, and bats can all carry rabies and residents are encouraged to make sure their pets are vaccinated against it. (WSAV-TV)
  2. The Chatham Savannah Authority preparing resources and supplies to support the unhoused population of the city. The organization is checking in with people experiencing homelessness around the city to inform them of their options during the winter. Inner City Night Shelter, Old Savannah City Mission, Union Mission, and the Salvation Army will have additional bed space. You can donate sleeping bags and handwarmers. (WTOC)
  3. On Dec. 16, Georgia Welcome of Savannah has donated over 200 handmade winter hats. Welcome donated to the Canady’s Coats for Kids campaign, which is in its third year and distributes to Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty Counties.
