  1. Over $3.5 million dollars in funding have been approved to support the Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless. 2. On Thursday, May 25, Savannah will be celebrating its 12th year of being a part of the TEDx body of international knowledge. Various innovators will come together at the Fine Arts Auditorium at the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University to partake in an afternoon of activities and informational sessions focused on the theme of connection. All ticket holders are welcome to attend an evening of live music and food trucks at the Armstrong Center after the event. (Savannah Now)
  3. Three former sheriff's officers from Georgia have officially been indicted in front of a grand jury for beating a Black jail detainee. The indictment that was handed down earlier this week saw ex-deputy Ryan Biegel along with former offers Braxton Massey and Mason Garrick with misdemeanor counts of battery and simple battery, as well as a felony count for violating their oath of office. The entire event was recorded by security cameras and showed clips of the victim being hurled against a wall and pinned to the floor. (WSAV)

  • Owner of Xscape Hair Studio, Tammy Stone, has officially announced that she will be running for Savannah City Council District 3 this November. Stone says she'll be retiring from running her business this year, so is hoping to dedicate her time to improving community resources for residents and local entrepreneurs like her. The seat she will be running for is currently held by Alderwoman Linda Wilder-Bryan, and is the most populated race in the council's selection. (Savannah Now)
  • According to the National Weather Service, today looks to be the warmest and driest day in next week's forecast. Temperatures will be mostly in the mid-80s with a very slight chance of showers happening in the afternoon. Scattered showers and storms are possible on Sunday as well, but the chances of rain largely depend on the potential of a coastal low forming offshore. (WTOC)
