BREAKING: Two suspects have been arrested in the slaying of a man they met outside a Cobb Carrabba's for a Craigslist transaction.
SMYRNA, GA -- Police in Smyrna on Wednesday arrested two suspects wanted in the slaying of a man outside a Carrabba’s restaurant, Patch has learned. The slaying, which occurred in broad daylight Monday during a meet-up to sell some shoes from a Craigslist ad outside the eatery in the 2900 block of Cumberland Boulevard, stunned the community.
Damien Akeen Scott, 22, of Decatur, and Vincent Diandrez Brooks, 22, of Jonesboro, are facing murder charges in the shooting that killed 26-year-old Mezaio Pickett, according to news reports. “Preliminary information suggests this was a Craigslist transaction that ended up going wrong,” Smyrna police Sgt. Louis Defense told local media.
There is no known relationship between the two people, police said earlier this week. A witness told the AJC that he was inside the restaurant when he saw what he initially thought was a car crash: He saw one victim lying in a ditch and two others in an SUV.
Police believe that Brooks was the triggerman and Scott an accomplice, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
