All Lanes of I-75 North Open at 120 Loop (UPDATE)

An injury crash involving a box truck had closed all northbound lanes of the interstate, according to GDOT.

Interstate 75 north at South Marietta Parkway (Exit 263) is open after a severe traffic accident had previously closed all traffic on the interstate.

GDOT’s Georgia 511 website reports that at least 3 cars were involved. Traffic cameras show that traffic has resumed its normal flow on the interstate.

The Georgia State Patrol says that the accident involved a box truck, a passenger van and a two door car and occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. All lanes of the interstate were re-opened at 12:52 p.m.

According to troopers, the van and passenger car slowed for traffic, but the box truck failed to slow and struck both vehicles. The driver of the van complained of injuries and the driver of the passenger car was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

The driver of the box truck, Richard Cofield, 53, of Chicago, IL, was charged with Driving Too Fast For Conditions and Following Too Closely, troopers said.
