1. The City of Smyrna has unveiled proposed designs for a monument to Fanny Williams, a renowned civil rights icon credited with founding the Cobb Cooperative. The memorial is set to be located adjacent to the Smyrna History Museum on Atlanta Road and has a budget of $125,000. Designs from the four finalists are now on display at the Smyrna Library. (Yahoo! 2. The City of Smyrna is celebrating the opening of the new Reed House Event Garden Space. All are welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will take place at the historic Reed House on May 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature live music by violinist Alice Hong and refreshments provided by The Vineyard Wine Market. 3. If you're planning to head into Alpharetta, keep in mind that Kimball Bridge Road will be closed for the next year. Construction on the year-long construction project kicked off yesterday (May 8), according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
