- The City of Smyrna has unveiled proposed designs for a monument to Fanny Williams, a renowned civil rights icon credited with founding the Cobb Cooperative. The memorial is set to be located adjacent to the Smyrna History Museum on Atlanta Road and has a budget of $125,000. Designs from the four finalists are now on display at the Smyrna Library. (Yahoo! - The City of Smyrna is celebrating the opening of the new Reed House Event Garden Space. All are welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will take place at the historic Reed House on May 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature live music by violinist Alice Hong and refreshments provided by The Vineyard Wine Market. - If you're planning to head into Alpharetta, keep in mind that Kimball Bridge Road will be closed for the next year. Construction on the year-long construction project kicked off yesterday (May 8), according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. This closure is part of the ongoing GA440 Express Lanes Project; more information is available here. (11 Alive)
