Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:
- A series of car break-ins occurred in the parking lot of a business plaza on Highlands Parkway in Smyrna. According to police, a suspect broke into multiple cars parked outside Chicago Pizza and Sports Grille and stole a car before leading authorities on a chase. The suspect, identified as Kindred Pierce, was arrested when the chase ended in a collision with a patrol vehicle. (WSB Atlanta)
- Calling all runners: the Vinings Downhill 5K is coming to town on Saturday, Aug. 12! In its 27 years, the event has raised over $1.5 million for children's-based charities, and it brings in nearly 1,500 racers each year. Those interested in participating can register online for the namesake 5K race, the Kids 1K Fun Run, or the Doggie Dash. (Vinings Downhill 5K)
- Yesterday, a Cobb County bridal shop participated in Operation Wedding Gown, an initiative to appreciate military members, first responders, and hospital employees. In partnership with Brides Across America, Marietta's Bel Fiore offered free wedding gowns to those who have served their communities. Another Cobb County bridal shop, Impression Bridal in Kennesaw, will be participating in the initiative today. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
