Car Theft Suspect Eludes Cobb Police

Officers searched for the man for nearly two hours before abandoning their pursuit, a police spokeswoman said.

Cobb County police were unable to catch a man they pulled over Friday afternoon for allegedly being behind the wheel of a stolen car.

Officers observed a stolen vehicle in the area of Gus Robinson Road in Powder Springs and executed a traffic stop at 1:09 p.m. Friday, police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton told Patch. The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle fled the scene on foot, Chilton said.

FOX 5 Atlanta reported during the search that the dragnet had expanded to the areas of McMurry Drive and Stinson Lane, which are residential streets south of Gus Robinson Road.
