Celebrating Black History Month

Cobb County libraries have many exciting and family-friendly events planned around the county in February to celebrate African American History Month. All events are free and open to the public.

• African American History Month Film Festival (West Cobb Regional Library, 1750 Dennis Kemp Ln., Kennesaw)
  • 3 p.m., Feb. 9: Joyful Noise
  • 3 p.m., Feb. 16: Men in Black III
  • 3 p.m., Feb. 23: The Help
• Third Annual African American History Month Celebration (Central Library, 266 Roswell St., Marietta)
  • 2 p.m., Feb. 9: Performers include Ravan Durr, the AL Burruss Unity Drummers, Rev. Cassandra Marcus and the South Cobb High School Platinum Steppers.
• African American Heritage film series (Central Library, 266 Roswell St., Marietta)
  • 5:30 p.m., Feb. 11: Hallelujah!
  • 6 p.m., Feb. 18: Jackie Robinson Story
  • 5:30 p.m., Feb. 25: Their Eyes Were Watching God
• African American History Month Program (South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Rd., Mableton)
  • 3:30 p.m., Feb. 20: Special program celebrating with books, songs and music. Ages 5 and older.
• African American History Month celebration (East Cobb Library, 4880 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta)
  • 3:30 p.m., Feb. 27: Enjoy African American folktales and stories, songs, a short film and craft. Ages 3 and older.
