Charter School In Smyrna Could Be Closed Down: Report
International Academy of Smyrna may close due to poor academics, newspaper reports.

SMYRNA, GA -- A Cobb County charter school may close its doors in the wake of poor academic performance, Patch has learned. The International Academy of Smyrna is turned in sub-par scores for two straight years, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, citing a state Education Department report card.
The school has also scored below average in its district and at the state level, leading education officials to recommend not renewing the charter, which will expire soon.
The DOW “will be unable to recommend a renewal or extension of International Academy of Smyrna’s charter contract at this time,” a letter addressed to the charter school's governing board outlines.
