Acworth police arrested a youth soccer coach on Tuesday who they say was found to be in possession of pornographic images and videos of children.

Michael Shaner, 66, has been charged with two counts of computer pornography and one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession, Cobb County jail records show. Shaner’s arrest warrant says he was charged with buying, selling, exchanging, or disseminating “any notice, statement, or advertisement, or any child’s name, telephone number, place of residence, physical characteristics, or other descriptive or identifying information for the purpose of offering or soliciting sexual conduct of or with an identifiable child or the visual depiction of such conduct.”

According to WSB-TV, a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force led Acworth police to Shaner’s apartment. Shaner’s arrest warrant, acquired by Patch, claims that Shaner had 61 images and seven videos of child pornography featuring children between 5 and 12 on his computer and an external hard drive. Police also found three grams of marijuana inside a bathroom drawer.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Michael Shaner has been affiliated with the Southern Soccer Academy as a youth soccer coach,” Acworth police said in a statement. “There is currently no evidence that the suspect has participated in the creation of child pornography or child molestation.”
