  1. The City of Smyrna announced yesterday that its government offices are experiencing phone service issues. As of the time of publication, the issue has not been resolved. Until service is restored, residents are asked to contact government offices via email; instructions can be found in the announcement. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Love the music of Motown, classic pop, and rock? Jukebox Giants: Motown & More! is headed to the Strand Theatre, just a short drive away in Marietta, from Aug. 12-21. Tickets can be purchased at the Strand box office, via phone (770-293-0080), or online. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Cobb County first responders have received the Lifesaver Award after helping a local parent resuscitate his son. A Cobb 911 operator and members of Cobb Station 21 were recognized for their efforts on Jan. 2, when a 13-year-old boy stopped breathing and did not have a pulse. Emergency Communications Officers Emily Mistrella assisted the father in conducting basic CPR as Station 21 was dispatched to the scene; the first responders then restarted the teen's heart via defibrillation and other lifesaving measures.
