  1. Tomorrow afternoon, the Cobb Board of Commissioners will hear a proposed plan to assign trash haulers to specific portions of Cobb County. The proposal, designed to alleviate ongoing collection issues in the county, would designate single haulers to each of four designated zones. Some citizens have spoken out against the plan, saying they are happy with their current haulers; smaller hauling companies have also expressed concerns they will be put out of business if the new plan passes. 2. An apartment fire on Old Concord Road damaged five units early Sunday morning, the Cobb County Fire Department reports. Around midnight, crews arrived at the Arbors at Smyrna, where they found smoke and fire in the attic of one of the buildings. Thankfully, all residents (including a cat) escaped safely. Officials are currently investigating two possible causes of the blaze: a lightning strike, or fireworks being set off in a nearby alley. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  3. Cobb County is currently accepting applications for the latest round of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.
