- Cobb County Sheriff's Office's Deputy Diane Watts has been awarded the STAR Award for her work with the county's Accountability Court programs. The prestigious award is bestowed by the statewide Council of Accountability Court Judges. Deputy Watts has served as a member of the Community Outreach Law Enforcement team for the last five years. - On Tuesday, the Cobb County Commission voted to toss out Republican-drawn Commission district maps. The Tuesday vote was just the first vote required to reinstate the original Democrat-drawn maps. The process is complicated and it is unclear if the actions are legal under Georgia's Constitution. The next vote will be on Oct. 25. (WSBTV)
- The Smyrna Public Library will be hosting "Dino-vember Dig" on Nov. 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will be in the library's meeting room. Participants will have the opportunity to dig up their very own dinosaur from its fossilized egg. There will also be a dinosaur-themed craft and various games. (City of Smyrna)
