Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. A Smyrna city councilman is leading a research team to create new prosthetic devices. Councilman Lewis Wheaton is an associate professor with Georgia Tech's School of Biological Sciences. The prosthetics that his team is researching would provide improved motor rehabilitation training for individuals with upper limb amputation. His team is just part of the impressive research that Georgia Tech is working on in the computational neuroscience field. (India Education Diary)
  2. The next Smyrna City Council meeting has been scheduled for Sep. 19 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at A. Max Bacon City Hall on King Street. Residents can watch live through this link. (City of Smyrna)
  3. The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a serious crash that occurred at Kennesaw Due West Road and Westover Way on Wednesday. A 15-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser. The teen was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the department. (Georgia Sun)
