Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:
- The Development Authority of Cobb County has approved a bond issuance for the expansion of Lockheed Martin's Marietta plant. The bond package allows for up to $1.6 billion to be issued - the largest issuance ever approved by the county's Development Authority. The approval was granted through a 5-1 vote on Tuesday. (Yahoo News)
- Smyrna's Tree Board has canceled its upcoming meeting. The meeting was originally scheduled for Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. in Brawner Hall. The reason for the cancellation was not included in the announcement. The next Smyrna Tree Board meeting will now be on Sept. 28. (City of Smyrna)
- Cobb County commissioners are considering a plan that would provide sanitation services to parts of unincorporated Cobb County. The plan will establish 4 residential zones in the area to allow the county to choose multiple sanitation providers for each zone. Trash fees will be collected through county property tax bills. Alternative billing options are being considered. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

- The Cobb Library Fall 2022 Book Sale will be at the Cobb Civic Center on Oct. 14 and Oct. 16. Prices vary between 10 cents and $4 for various materials. The sale will be between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 on Friday and Saturday, and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. (Cobb County)
