Dozens of Employers Expected at Goodwill Week Job Fairs

Goodwill of North Georgia will host nine job fairs simultaneously on Wednesday, May 7.

Job seekers across the region will have the opportunity to meet with dozens of local employers during Goodwill Week 2014.Goodwill of North Georgia will host nine job fairs simultaneously on Wednesday, May 7.   

“While we routinely host job fairs at each of our career centers, Goodwill Week is one of two times a year when we concentrate the effort to connect North Georgians to work for a single-day event at all nine career centers,” Elaine Armstrong, director of public relations, said in a news release.   

Last year according to the release, the nonprofit helped more than 11,000 people find employment through the variety ofjob training programs and employment services it offers. Every year since 1951, Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada have marked the first full week of May as Goodwill Industries Week, a commemoration that celebrates new jobs and changed lives. 

This year, from May 5 – 9, Goodwill of North Georgia will host a variety of events, including job fairs in nine locations, a donor recognition day and a workshop and gift card drawings for shoppers.   

Goodwill funds its career centers by selling donations of gently used clothing and household goods in 47 stores. Equipped with computers, résumé-writing tools, local job postings, photocopiers, telephones and other resources, the career centers are free and open to the public. Goodwill also provides recruitment fair space, interview rooms and other services for local employers.
    
Job fair attendees should arrive in professional interview attire and bring several copies of their résumés. A list of confirmed employers (by location) is posted online athttp://goodwillng.org/About-Us/News.aspx.
