Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. Campbell High School (Smyrna) alumni Savannah Sheats was reported missing by her sister after disappearing from her Atlanta home on Wednesday. Her sister told authorities she last saw her sibling on Tuesday night when the two went to bed around 9 p.m. According to the missing persons report, Sheats’ vehicle was gone but her phone was still at her residence on Verlaine Place NW. As of Thursday evening, the 26-year-old has not been located. (Crime Online)
  2. Last night, the City of Smyrna held a Ward 7 Neighborhood Meeting to discuss its short-tem rental ordinance. The meeting took place at 6:30 p.m. at A Max Bacon City Hall. Community Development Director Rusty Martin presented the key parts of the new ordinance, followed by comments by Police Chief Keith Zgonc about the impacts from local policing.   3. The Smyrna Public Safety Foundation and the Smyrna Police Department will be celebrating National Faith & Blue Weekend once again this year. The event will take place Oct. 7 to 10 and aims to "facilitate safer and stronger communities by engaging law enforcement officers and local residents through the connections of faith-based organizations."
