Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. The deadline for Cobb PARKS annual Fun in the Park contest is Nov. 3. All photo entries must be taken at a Cobb County park, facility, activity, or event to qualify for the contest. There is no charge to enter the photo contest. There is a limit of ten entries per resident. Click for information on submitting an entry. (Cobb County Courier)
2. Cobb County Commissioners might enter uncharted political territory if they attempt to change the state's redistricting process. The proposal involves overruling district lines drawn by the Republican-controlled state Legislature. The issue will likely be resolved in a courtroom, eventually. The Commissioners will be voting on the proposal at today's (Oct. 11) Board meeting. (Subscription: AJC.com)
3. Water Service Director Judy Jones will be briefing the Cobb County Board of Commissioners today about the county's stormwater infrastructure. The focus of the briefing will be on how the county compares to neighboring jurisdictions and infrastructure funding mechanisms.
