Georgia Weather Forecast: Storms Then Sun This Weekend

In metro Atlanta, it's good news the Friday night lights won't be shining on most football games for another week. It could be a wet one.

ATLANTA, GA — The Friday night lights won't be shining on most Georgia high school football teams for another week and, weather-wise, that's good news. Metro Atlanta could see some clear skies this weekend, but it's likely to start with some storms.

Scattered-to-numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon and evening in north and central Georgia, according to the National Weather Service. Some of those storms, which will start in western Georgia and move east, could be strong to severe, the weather service says.

On Saturday, the chance for rain drops all the way down to 10 percent, though, bumping up to 20 percent Saturday night. And Sunday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and will be otherwise mostly sunny.
