Georgia Weather Forecast: Strong Storms Coming This Week
Severe storms with damaging winds could hit metro Atlanta and other parts of north Georgia this week, the National Weather Service says.

ATLANTA, GA ā Two storm systems are expected to roll through metro Atlanta this week, bringing a chance for some severe thunderstorms with damaging winds.
There's a slight chance of thunderstorms in extreme north Georgia Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, but no severe storms are expected in the metro area. That could all change on Tuesday, though.
A strong system will move through the region late Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, the NWS says. That's expected to bring scattered to widespread thunderstorms to north and central Georgia in the overnight hours.

A few of those storms will be "strong to severe," the weather service predicts, with damaging winds.

Another strong system is expected to sweep through on Friday afternoon and continue into the weekend. While that could make things rainy in metro Atlanta, those storms aren't expected to be as severe as the ones we'll see earlier in the week.
After the first storm system, temperatures are expected to drop, with colder air spreading across north and central Georgia on Wednesday and Wednesday night. Temperatures in the north Georgia mountains could drop below freezing Wednesday night.
It sure will feel like springtime before then, though. Monday's high temperature could get near 80 degrees and we're looking at a high of 78 for Tuesday.
