  1. Gov. Brian Kemp delivered his 2023 State of the State address on Wednesday. Kemp shared that within the upcoming year, officials will announce four of the most significant economic development projects in the state's history, bringing over 20,000 new jobs and $17 billion in investment to rural communities. He also announced $1.9 billion will go toward education and will fund the QBE Formula to expand and reinforce the workforce at every level, including where it begins in the K-12 classrooms. (WRDW)
  2. Last week, hundreds of metro Atlanta adolescents and children were unenrolled from school after address verifications. This week, parents are fighting to get their kids back in class. One parent, Kristin Carothers, said, "Fulton County Public Schools needs to do the same thing they did in north Fulton, which is to put a pause on redistricting." (WSB Atlanta)
  3. Gun sales soared in Georgia in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. However, since the start of the pandemic, gun sales have slowly declined each year – yet, stayed higher than pre-pandemic numbers. In Georgia, about 55 firearm background checks for every 1,000 people, making it the 10th lowest rate among states. (Patch)
