Memorial Day 2022: What's Open, Closed In Smyrna, Vinings

SMYRNA, GA — Monday, May 30 is Memorial Day. In observance of the holiday, most federal, state, and local government offices are closed.

There will be no mail delivery. Many businesses are open but with different hours — so it's not a bad idea to check before heading out.

If you're looking for something to do in Smyrna for the somber holiday, the city of Smyrna will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at Twentieth Century Veterans Memorial, 2800 King Street SE.

Here's a breakdown of how the holiday could impact your routine:

• Cobb County government offices are closed Monday.
• Municipal offices for the city of Smyrna are closed Monday.
• The Cobb County Public Library system is closed Monday; however, library's digital resources are available. Normal hours resume Tuesday, May 31.
• Smyrna garbage pickup: For residents within the city of Smyrna's city limits, those who normally get their trash picked up on Mondays and Tuesdays will experience a one-day delay. Monday routes will be picked up Tuesday, and Tuesday routes will be picked up Wednesday. Thursday and Friday routes are not affected. No yard debris or large items will be picked up this week.
• The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will operate bus service, rail service and Atlanta streetcar service on Sunday schedules for Memorial Day.
• Cobb County Schools students are finished with school for the semester.
• This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices are closed Monday.
• All banks will be closed.
• Check local grocery store hours.
