More Rent Help Available In Cobb, For Non-COVID-Related Hardships

Cobb County is working with U.S. Housing and Urban Development to provide rental assistance, but not based on COVID-19-related hardships.

COBB COUNTY, GA — More rental assistance is available in Cobb County, but unlike previous rent help programs, this one is open to those not needing rent help due to COVID-19-related financial hardships.

The Cobb County Community Development Block Grant office is working with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide assistance with the following programs:

HOME Investment Partnerships Program

The primary purpose of the HOME Program is to expand affordable housing options for people of low and moderate income. A HOME eligible activity, Tenant Based Rental Assistance, provides monthly rent, security and utility deposits for clients with income at or below 80 percent of the average median income.

  • Extremely low income (30 percent): $18,100
  • Very low income (50 percent): $30,200
  • Moderate income (60 percent): $36,240
  • Low income (80 percent): $48,300

Family of two:

  • Extremely low income (30 percent): $20,700
  • Very low income (50 percent): $34,500
  • Moderate income (60 percent): $41,400
  • Low income (80 percent): $55,200

Family of three:

  • Extremely low income (30 percent): $23,300
  • Very low income (50 percent): $38,800
  • Moderate income (60 percent): $46,560
  • Low income (80 percent): $62,100

Family of four:

  • Extremely low income (30 percent): $25,850
  • Very low income (50 percent): $43,100
  • Moderate income (60 percent): $51,720

Family of eight:

  • Extremely low income (30 percent): $34,150

Emergency Solutions Grant Program

The primary purpose of the ESG Program is to assist people in quickly regaining stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness. Homelessness prevention activities serve clients who are at-risk of becoming homeless and with incomes at or below 30 percent of the average median income.

Income limits are as follows:

  • Family of one: $18,100
  • Family of two: $20,700
  • Family of three: $23,300
  • Family of four: $25,850
  • Family of five: $27,950
  • Family of six: $30,000
  • Family of seven: $32,100
  • Family of eight: $34,150
