Motorcyclist Killed in Weekend Wreck in Smyrna: Police

Operator was thrown from the bike, second driver not injured, according to Cobb County Police.

SMYRNA, GA — A motorcycle driver was killed Friday afternoon in a Smyrna wreck, according to Cobb County Police.

Randall Lewis, 33, of Dallas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At 2:12 p.m. Friday, Lewis was riding a white Suzuki GSX-R600, heading southbound on South Atlanta Road near Plant Atkinson Road.

A blue 2009 Nissan Maxima, operated by 64-year-old Samuel Dunmore, of Smyrna, was travelling north on South Atlanta Road attempting to turn left onto Plant Atkinson Road.

According to police, Dunmore initiated a left turn and entered into the path of the Suzuki. Lewis attempted to avoid a collision by braking, but the bike collided with the right side of the Nissan.

Lewis was reportedly thrown from the motorcycle. Dunmore was not injured in the collision.

This collision remains under investigation and anyone with information can contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499- 3987.
