Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

  1. The City of Smyrna's Monday meeting packed the house with a busy agenda. The city swore in a new fire chief, completed a few annexations, and discussed the demolition of Aunt Fanny’s Cabin. The next town hall meeting is today, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Yesterday, The Cobb County School District proposed boosting pay for bus drivers by $5.25 an hour. With the proposed increase, the new hourly rate for bus drivers would range from $25 to $33.32 an hour. Funding for the pay raises would come to $7.6 million and is available from revenues generated from the rising Cobb property tax digest. (East Cobb News)
