Kennesaw Mayor’s Ethics Hearing Tonight

A hearing is scheduled for tonight regarding an ethics complaint filed against  Mayor Mark Mathews.

, alleging that the mayor uses city equipment for other business and that he has been facilitating meetings between his employer and the city manager.

Ermutlu said that Mathews' use of his city-provided iPhone and iPad to do business for MetroAtlanta Ambulance is a violation of the city's ordinances. According to Mathews' biography on the city's website, he serves as Manager of Government Relations for the ambulance service.

Powder Springs Mayor Warns of Closed Meeting Leaks

Powder Springs Mayor Pat Vaughn sent a warning to City Council members before Monday’s legislative meeting, telling them that if they leak information from executive sessions, they “can be sanctioned.”

The warning stems from an email sent to council members by former three-term Councilman Tom Bevirt. The email, provided to Patch by Bevirt and posted at the bottom of this article, asks mostly questions but does reveal Bevirt found out the city will not utilize a selection committee in its search for a permanent city manager.

“He couldn’t have done this with his own mind,” Vaughn said of Bevirt’s knowledge of the situation, later adding, “You can laugh if you want to, but that’s an ethics charge.”

Company to Add 1,000 Jobs

Alorica, a leading provider of customer management outsourcing solutions, announced today its plans to add more than 1,000 new jobs by the end of the year.

The positions are seasonal employment opportunities, while others are permanent. The majority of openings are for customer service representatives.

VoterGa Questions Delay on Removal of Ga. 400 Tolls

It's been a long time coming and while many Sandy Springs motorists are thrilled with the July 19 , others feel it's not soon enough.

Lead by Roswell resident, Garland Favorito,VoterGa’s Free Ga. 400 project leaders have called for the removal of the toll since it was extended during 2010. The group presented Deal with 400 petitions on July 17 requesting that he adhere to the original Ga. 400 construction agreements between Atlanta and the state, according to a recent press release from VoterGa.
