- The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will be voting on the county's 2040 Comprehensive Plan on Tuesday. The plan is a long-range, community-designed strategy for growth, meant to transform the county into an attractive investment option to raise a family or conduct business. The vote on Tuesday is for the plan's 5-year update. (Cobb County Courier)
- A father called Cobb County 911 dispatchers about his son that was in crisis and suicidal. The Marietta Fire Department responded to the incident and requested support from the Marietta Police Department. Responding officers shot the 25-year-old man when he allegedly pointed a gun at the officers. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be investigating the shooting. (Cobb County Courier)
- Georgetown University has released a study about the estimated costs associated with reversing learning losses that occurred throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the study, Cobb County would need to spend about $173.3 million for tutoring and other forms of instruction to reverse the losses for its students. Thankfully, Georgia still has nearly three billion dollars allocated by the federal government to address education-related problems from the pandemic. (Yahoo.com)
