- Police are asking for the public to step forward with any information they might have about a fatal car crash on I-75 at Delk Road. On Dec. 11, at about 2:51 a.m., 52-year-old James Appleton lost control of his Dodge Challenger for unknown reasons. He went across all lanes of travel before crashing into the center barrier wall. Appleton was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. (Cobb County Courier)
- The Marietta Pops Orchestra delighted audiences with their annual Christmas concert. Held at the First Baptist Church Marietta, the community-based ensemble sang Christmas tunes, carols, classics, and pop favorites. The 50-plus-piece orchestra appeared at the church on Saturday night. The group has been performing for 12 years. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
- While it was certainly overcast at the annual 'Christmas at Piedmont' event, that didn't stop anyone from having a great time. Children played with the animals in the petting zoo and slid down a twisty snow slide. Kids also had the chance to talk with Santa Claus about what they want for Christmas. People got in some great local last minute shopping at the arts and crafts market of local vendors. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
