- Police are searching for the person responsible for killing 21-year-old Jason Stephen Escoffrey last month at a Smyrna apartment complex. Escoffrey was found with multiple gunshots near the swimming pool of the Highlands of West Village apartments off Atlanta Road near Interstate 285. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he died from his wounds. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Detectives at 770-499-3945 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477). (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- School is back in session and school safety officials and the Cobb County Sheriff's Office are urging drivers to slow down. The sheriff's office is stressing the importance of driver safety in and around school zones and on the roads as school buses are packed with children. Parents are also encouraged to teach their children to be aware of their surroundings when getting on and off the bus. (CBS 46 News)
- Dr. Janet Memark, the District Health Director for Cobb & Douglas Public Health, distributed an update to Cobb and Douglas County communities on Monkeypox cases and COVID-19. Updates include the availability of the COVID-19 Novavax vaccine, the 58 cases of Monkeypox in the counties, and how to know if you have Monkeypox. (Cobb County Courier)
