Recycle Your Old Clothes, Home Goods In Cobb This Weekend

Keep Cobb Beautiful is hosting a textile and household goods recycling event this Saturday in Smyrna. Get the details here.

SMYRNA, GA — Cobb County residents can recycle textiles and household goods this weekend, thanks to Keep Cobb Beautiful's recycling event in Smyrna.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Argyle Elementary School, located at 2420 Spring Road.

Additionally, donations of hard-to-recycle plastics will be accepted as long as they are in the orange Hefty EnergyBag, which can be purchased at local Kroger stores, according to a news release from the county. It's part of the Hefty EnergyBag Plastics Program, in which Keep Cobb Beautiful is a participant.

Items accepted include:

  • gently-used clothing;
  • shoes;
  • books;
  • antiques;
  • collectables;
  • baby toys and accessories;
  • bedding;
  • draperies;
  • decorative pillows;
  • CDs, records and DVDs;
  • housewares;
  • glassware;
  • bicycles;
  • games;
  • fabric;
  • craft supplies;
  • small appliances;
  • jewelry;
  • artwork;
  • and tools.

  • paint;
  • electronics;
  • metals;
  • desks;

  • paper (for shredding);

  • large appliances;

  • kitchen and bathroom fixtures;
  • and unassembled furniture.
