Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. Tonight (Oct. 7), the City of Smyrna will be closing some roads for its 150th Birthday Celebration. The event will occur on Saturday, but the city will begin closing roads downtown tonight at 6:00 p.m. The closings include portions of Atlanta Road, Church Rd, Powder Springs, and various streets in front of Smyrna City Hall. Please plan accordingly. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Almost 600 Cobb County voters have had their voter registrations challenged. The challenges were submitted to Cobb Elections and Registration Director Jamie Eveler last month. This is the latest large-scale voter challenge since Senate Bill 202 went into effect. The challenges were allegedly filed because the registrations did not include apartment numbers. (Axios.com)
  3. The Cobb County Police Department is investigating an attempted trail attack at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. According to the department, a woman was chased by a man wearing a ski mask while she was walking with her dog. Park Rangers have reportedly increased patrols in the area while the incident is being investigated. (Fox 5 Atlanta)

Patch deal of the day:

Wine lover alert. We found this amazing deal from Splash Wines — an 18-bottle curated selection of reds and whites for fall — for just $69.99. Shipping isn't cheap at $39.95, but that still comes out to just over $6 per bottle. Splash Wines has a money-back guarantee if you don't like the wine and 4.6 out of 5 rating on TrustPilot. So: recommended.
