🌱 Road Closures In Smyrna + Min. Wage Increase + Youth Council Apps

First, today's weather:

A heavy thunderstorm in the p.m. High: 86 Low: 71.

Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. Expect road work and lane closures between Jul. 30 and Aug. 4. The Cobb County Department of Transportation just released its Weekly Travel Advisory. Be advised that the City of Smyrna lane closures are in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday due to the Windy Hill Boulevard project construction. Heavy delays are possible, so plan accordingly. (Cobb County Courier)
2. Cobb County recently approved pay increases for county staff. After the Board of Commissioners agreed this week to implement recommendations from its recent pay study, Cobb County employees may see pay raises — including the county's minimum hourly rate increase to $17 — as early as September. 3. Smyrna Youth Council applications open on Monday, Aug. 1. If your child has an interest in local government, they're encouraged to apply to the 2022-2023 Smyrna Youth Council until Aug. 19.
