Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. If you're driving on Route 360 this weekend, keep in mind that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will be closing lanes for land widening and sidewalk installation. Crews are scheduled to close a single lane on State Route 360/Powder Springs Road (between Lost Mountain Road and State Route 120) today (Saturday, Aug. 13) from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Roads will have traffic flaggers and roadway message boards to guide drivers through the closures. 2. The Cobb County Community Development Block Grant Program Office is holding a public review meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. The review meeting, which will be held at the Cobb CDBG Program Office, will discuss proposed funding recommendations for the Justice Assistance Grant for the 2022 fiscal year. Community members can submit comments via email at PublicComments@CobbCountyCDBG.com, or they can call the office at 770-528-1445. (Smyrna-Vinings Patch)
3. Food That Rocks, presented by Taste of Atlanta, will return to nearby Sandy Springs from Aug. 19-20. The delicious tasting event will be held at City Springs — roughly 20 minutes out from both Smyrna and Vinings — with plenty of local food, wine, beer, and cocktails.
