Smyrna Approves Parking Rules Around SunTrust Park

Ordinance governs events with at least 2,000 attendees on any one day.

SMYRNA, GA -- In an ordinance approved this week by the Smyrna City Council, festivities with at least 2,000 attendees must register for special event parking, according to news reports.

The rules come as the city of Smyrna readies for the opening of SunTrust Park, the Braves' new stadium.

The city recently began accepting applications for special event parking, which is open.

The special event parking rules include commercial property and extend to religious groups such as churches, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

“Cobb County continues to grow at a robust level, particularly in the Cumberland area,” Dana Johnson, Cobb County Community Development director, said at the time, as Patch reported. “The county is happy to see private businesses and free enterprise expand; creating jobs, opportunities and profits.”
