  1. In her first town hall, Smyrna's new councilwoman outlined issues she would be working to address while holding office. Councilwoman Latonia Hines spoke about public safety, traffic control, and attracting quality developments to the area. She was sworn into office in July. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. A federal judge has dismissed the $150 million lawsuit filed against a Cobb County Police Department officer. The suit was filed by Vincent Truitt's family after he was shot twice in the back while fleeing from the officer near the Six Flags Over Georgia. The officer was cleared in 2021 by a grand jury. The judge dismissed the lawsuit because the filing failed "to state a claim." (WSBTV)
  3. The Cobb County Commission is considering a proposal that would require yearly inspections of multifamily housing units. The requirement is meant to address recent reports of inadequate living conditions in multiple county apartment complexes. The inspections would start in 2024 if the proposal is adopted by the commission. (AJC.com)
