  1. The Rotary Club of Smyrna participated in a stuff backpacks project at Cobb Civic Center last Saturday. The event was organized by Amie Burke, CEO & Co-Founder of KIDS CARE, and attracted 80 volunteers who filled Elementary School, Middle School and High School backpacks with various items per school type appropriate checklists.   2. The Cobb County Animal Services Shelter has reopened! To commemorate the reopening, the shelter is hosting a special adoption deal through Aug. 25. The shelter had temporarily closed due to a confirmed case of Streptococcus zooepidemicus, or “strep zoo.” (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Atlanta Fire responded to a fire near a nightclub in Buckhead on Sunday morning. The call came in around 10:40 a.m. at 2159 Piedmont Road, resulting in a lane closure that caused delays south of the club. According to fire officials, smoke was coming out of the two-story building when they arrived, and fire crews were able to contain the fire from inside the building. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
