Smyrna Schools Will Keep Safety As Priority After Texas School Shooting

Cobb County School District will continue working closely with district police to ensure the safety of students and staff.

SMYRNA, GA — Cobb County School District spokesperson told Patch Wednesday that it will continue to work with the Cobb County School District Police Department to ensure safety for students and staff after the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas.

Nineteen children and two adults were killed on Tuesday. The shooter, identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, of Uvalde entered the school armed with a handgun and rifle. He barricaded himself inside a classroom and opened fire. Ramos was killed in the shooting by law enforcement officers, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said. The remainder of the school year has been canceled.

“We are heartbroken to see the tragedy, which changed the lives of students, teachers, and parents in Texas,” the district spokesperson told Patch. “Every day, our principals and staff wake up and do everything we can to keep Cobb students and staff safe. We will again today.”
