Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. There's still time for local teens to sign up for the 2022-23 Smyrna Youth Council. The application process began last week and runs through Aug. 19. To be eligible, teens must be enrolled in high school, maintain at least a 2.50 GPA, and be willing to commit 15-20 hours per month. See all the criteria at the link. (City of Smyrna)
2. Cobb county is postponing the leave expiration deadline for county employees. These employees may have a few extra months to use up their vacation days instead of expiring at the end of the fiscal year — Sep. 30. HR Director Jim Harner explained employees who have leave time are rushing to use it before the upcoming deadline. (MDJOnline.com)
3. Join the City of Smyrna tonight, Aug. 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for Food Truck Tuesday! Food Truck Tuesdays are located at Taylor Brawner Park (3180 Atlanta Rd. SE).
