- Smyrna's Demetris Smith, 35 years old, was one of six passengers to be involved in a single-car crash that occurred in Grand Forks, ND on Monday morning. The driver of the vehicle, Starsha Laquisha Swift, has been arrested for DUI, DUI refusal, and six counts of reckless endangerment. The passengers of the vehicle were associated with the B.o.B musical artist. (Grand Forks Herald)
- As of Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., Cobb County is now in a state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency for all of the state's counties. Georgia's State Operations Center has been activated to respond to Hurricane Ian. The tropical storm is expected to leave Georgia on Sunday. (Cobb County Courier)
- The Smyrna Public Library and Smyrna Museum will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 8 for the city's 150th Birthday Celebration.
