- The West Cobb Senior Center will be hosting an 8 Ball Tournament on Friday, Sept. 30 at 10:45 a.m. The tournament will be using the standardized World Billiards Congress of America's rules. The tournament is meant for Cobb County seniors 55 years or older. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish to share. (Cobb County Courier)
- The Smyrna Public Library will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a Dia de los Muertos story on Oct. 3 at 4:00 p.m. The story will be followed by sugar skull cookie decorating in the library's meeting room. Registration is required to participate in the event, and is available at the link. (City of Smyrna)
- Cobb County will likely be seeking $7.5 million in federal funding for transit improvements. The funding will go towards improving the East-West Connector between Austell Road and I-285. Additional funding will also go towards a trailhead along the Chattahoochee River at Discovery Boulevard and Mableton Parkway. (Yahoo News)
