Suspect Shot Fleeing From Cobb Police: Authorities

The suspect was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.

SMYRNA, GA — Police shot a suspect they say ran away after officers tried to conduct a traffic stop Friday in the 1200 block of Winchester Parkway, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

The suspect was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with injuries that are not life threatening, police said.

Police tried to pull over a black Toyota around 2:30 a.m. when the car sped away, Cobb police said. After officers pitted the car, police said four people ran away from the car.

According to police, one of the suspects pointed a handgun at officers. An officer shot the person, who police said continued to run away with the handgun before hiding inside of a manhole.

Cobb police took the suspect, and two others, into custody. One suspect has not been caught, police said.
