Suspect Sought After Man Is Shot In Head at Smyrna Gas Station

Smyrna police are searching for gunman who fatally shot a man in the head at a Texaco this week.

SMYRNA, GA -- Police in Smyrna are asking for the pubic's help in finding the man who opened fire on a customer, striking him in the head and killing him, outside a gas station this week. The slaying happened just before 11 p.m. Monday at the Texaco in the 2600 block of South Cobb Drive near Powder Springs Street.

Police said that the victim came out of the gas station and was headed toward the fuel pumps when the driver of what appears to be a dark green Chevy Avalanche pulled up next to him. The driver of the Avalanche then pulled out a gun and shot the man in the head, according to a news release from Smyrna police spokesman Robert Harvey.

Law enforcement officers arriving on the scene found the victim's body on the ground next to a truck. Police have no motive for the slaying at this time and have not released the identity of the victim pending a notification of the next of kin.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5-10 to 6 feet tall in his mid-30s. He appears to weigh about 170 pounds.

were various tools, including a vacuum cleaner, and a spool of large gauge wire, police said.

The slaying comes one week after a man was gunned down in broad daylight during a Craigslist transaction outside the Carrabba's in Smyrna. Two people have been arrested in that case.
