Texas Family Suing Boy Scouts In Cobb State Court

Elijah Knight died last year during a storm that struck a Georgia Boy Scouts camp.

MARIETTA, GA -- The Texas parents of a 14-year-old Boy Scout who died last year at a Georgia Boy Scout camp filed a wrongful death suit on Tuesday in Cobb State Court. According to the lawsuit, Elijah Knight was killed when a tree fell on his tent at the Bert Adams Scout Camp in Covington, GA, back on June 25, 2018.

The camp is run by the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which is headquartered in Vinings. Knight and his Texas troop were camping at the time of his death.

The lawsuit claims the adults didn't follow the group’s own bylaws about seeking shelter during inclement weather.
