Three Arrests in Cobb Entering Auto Spree

At least 20 vehicles were broken into Wednesday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

Three people are in custody at the Cobb County jail after police say they were responsible for a rash of entering auto incidents in Mableton early Wednesday morning.

Cobb County police were dispatched to the area of Brookside Drive near Oakdale Road at 3:11 a.m. in response to “suspicious activity and subjects possibly breaking into vehicles,” department spokeswoman Alicia Chilton told Patch.

Chilton said that “at least twenty” cars were broken into, but officers believe several more vehicles were entered by the suspects. Detectives are now amassing a final count of targeted vehicles, Chilton said.

Two officers entered into a foot pursuit of three suspects and were able to arrest the trio, Cobb police Capt. Jeff Adcock told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Chilton said the identities of the suspects are being withheld pending arrest warrants.

Chilton said that detectives are investigating the possibility that a fourth suspect was involved in the incidents and was able to escape the initial police dragnet. Officers impounded a black Saab that was occupied by one of the suspects, she added.
