Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

1. Today's Veterans Day Ceremony has been moved to the Community Center gym. The change in venue is due to forecasted inclement weather. The ceremony will still start at 11:00 a.m. There will be a free lunch offered for all veterans at the American Legion Post 160 on Legion Drive after the ceremony. (City of Smyrna)
2. Smyrna and Vinings residents will be participating in the Dec. 6 runoff election to determine the state's next U.S. Senator. A group of progressive grassroots organizations reports that they will be taking a hiatus on political campaign efforts through the weekend. They will be starting their runoff field operation on Monday. Anti-abortion organizations report that they will be spending at least $1 million in the runoff and will be forming a field campaign. 3. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Cobb County has had 531 new COVID-19 cases in the past 14 days. That brings the county's total to 163,602 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Region N, which includes Cobb County, reports that 83.54 percent of ICU beds are currently occupied with 34.92 percent of available ventilators in use. (Cobb County Courier)
