Vocal Arts Coach Running for Smyrna City Council

Tara Simon has appeared on Broadway, television, and now owns an award-winning vocal arts studio in Smyrna.

Smyrna business owner Tara Simon qualified today for the November 3, 2015 election for City Council Ward 6.

“I’ve been blessed with the support of so many friends and neighbors as I’ve gone door-to-door to talk about our campaign to bring new leadership to Smyrna’s City Council,” said Simon. “Our vision for making Smyrna better for job creation without lowering our standards, and preserving and enhancing our quality of life is resonating with voters.”

Tara Simon started Tara Simon Studios in Smyrna to coach and mentor vocal and performing arts students while continuing her own career as a singer. “Having started a business in Smyrna, I believe we can improve the permitting process and make it easier to start a new business and create local jobs without sacrificing our standards,” said Simon.

Simon has also pledged to work for property tax relief. “Rebounding property values in our area, while welcome, create upward pressure on property taxes. We must prioritize protecting existing homeowners from rising taxes and I will work to rollback the millage rate and protect homeowners,” said Simon.

Tara Simon and her husband Terrence have been married seven years and moved to Smyrna over four years ago to launch their business. One short year after opening, Tara Simon Studios won the 2015 “Best of Smyrna Award” in Music Performance and Education. In 2012, Tara was a Finalist on Season Two of “The X Factor” and is also a Broadway veteran. For more information and to support Tara, visit www.votefortara.org
