WellStar To Host Gala Near SunTrust Park

SMYRNA, GA -- A private fundraiser hosted by the WellStar Foundation will be held in April at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre adjacent to SunTrust Park.

The Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre is the new 3,800-capacity venue in The Battery Atlanta.

The WellStar Foundation Starlight Grand “Slam” Gala will feature baseball-themed entertainment and activities. Former Braves first baseman Ryan Klesko will be on hand as honorary co-chair.

“As a Georgia resident and former Atlanta Brave, I am proud to be teaming up with WellStar, the largest not-for-profit health system in Georgia," Klesko said in a statement Wednesday. "It’s exciting to be in SunTrust Park as the community rallies to improve trauma services for those suffering from life-threatening injuries.”

The gala will be one of first non-baseball events on the new ballpark's grounds.

“The Gala is our biggest annual fundraising event and this year’s proceeds will go toward one of the most vital and immediate service areas – trauma," said Penny Morrison-Ross, WellStar Foundation executive director. "Our goal is to improve access to critical care for every member of our community when time matters most.”

The gala will also honor philanthropists, volunteers, physicians and clinicians associated with WellStar.
