What Do you Think About 'The Watch' Title Change?
The title of the movie was changed from "Neighborhood Watch" to distance it from the Travyon Martin case.
The Watch starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill premieres Friday. Remember that movie? and last fall. Still not ringing a bell? That could be because the film, formerly titled Neighborhood Watch underwent a name change in May to distance itself from the Trayvon Martin case.
According to UPI, Twentieth Century Fox shortened Neighborhood Watch—which features Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill as they form a neighborhood watch group and discover a plot by aliens to destroy the planet—to The Watch.
In February, 17-year-old Martin was shot and killed in Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer, 28-year-old George Zimmerman.

"As the subject matter of this alien-invasion comedy bears no relation whatsoever to the recent tragic events in Florida, the studio altered the title to avoid any accidental or unintended misimpression that it might," Fox is quoted in the UPI report.
In April, first from Florida theaters and then nationally, because of possible associations with the Trayvon Martin case.

The poster contains what appears to be a prowler on a sign with bullet holes in it, and the trailer shows Hill mimicking a gun with his hands from the backseat of a slow-moving car.
You can see the watch at at 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:20 p.m., 2:20 p.m., 3:55 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:25 p.m., 9:05 p.m. and 10:05 p.m.
