2 Arrested, 1 Injured In Blaze At Snellville Tire Shop

A person suffers smoke inhalation in a tire shop fire in Snellville, where two people were arrested in connection with the blaze.

SNELLVILLE, GA — Two men have been arrested in connection with a Snellville fire at a tire shop that injured one person Tuesday, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said Wednesday.

The blaze ignited around 2:30 p.m. at Mavis Tires and Brakes in the 3000 block of Centerville Rosebud Road Southwest, fire officials said.

A 911 caller told dispatch they saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the business, and minutes later, fire officials said they arrived on scene.

They added they found the fire in a single-story detached garage behind the main business. Flames came from the roof, and part of the structure had collapsed, fire officials said.

Escape routes were limited due to an enclosure, and a power line came down, fire officials said. However, all occupants were out of the building at the time of the fire, officials said.

Centerville Rosebud was closed while firefighters attacked the blaze, fire officials said. They noted they gained control of the fire around 2:45 p.m.

A person who suffered smoke inhalation injuries was evaluated and released at the scene, fire officials said. There were no other injuries, and fire officials did not say if the injured person was an employee or customer.

The cause of the fire was incendiary, and two men were arrested in connection with the fire, officials said. The men were not identified.
